The consultants fallacy
I’ve worked for a number of years as a consultant, and have worked with many other consultants.
The consultants fallacy is to leave people thinking they need to work harder, or invest more time and money in order to understand your ideas and methods. That they’re doing something wrong when they don’t comprehend how brilliant you are or can’t immediately adapt to your methods, processes, or ways of working.
In contrast. A good consultant adds value through clarity and clear communication. They’re able to listen, comprehend and focus on what really matters before cutting directly through all the other conversations happening. They present ideas, introduce methods and communicate in a way that helps people make faster progress towards a goal or outcome.
The challenge is to be a good consultant.
